The Joys of School

I'm beginning to dislike world geography more and more every day- and today just added to how much I hate this class. We were told at the beginning of the semester that we were to read a section ahead a night and take notes. I have always been very good about doing this.... EXCEPT this weekend!!! I didn't read it and figured that I would be OK.... well guess what! My teacher was apparently having a VERY terrible morning!!! He asked how many of us honestly read this section... GREAT JOB Krysten!!! Didn't see this one coming at ya huh! He then gave us 15 minutes to read this entire section which we would then be quizzed over. WOO HOO!!! I can't retain information- especially on a Monday morning at 8 am! I didn't know how to study this stuff! 15 minutes to know who paid for Columbus's voyage? Who overthrew some empire... I was so overwhelmed I wanted to cry, and of course I couldn't cry because it's Mr. Loe. He is the last person I would want to cry in front of. After 15 minutes of frantically reading this section praying that I could retain a little bit of information to be able to at least pass this class- he began giving questions. Who were 2 major kings who overthrew this empire? GREAT here we go!!! lets fail world geography. I then begin freaking out! That's putting it in a simple way! I started shaking and the kid behind me is humming. I can't concentrate when people are humming and tapping. Not kidding Our teacher is giving us about 10 seconds in between questions, and then you add my little freak out session and the nice kid behind me humming! WOO! I wanted to leave or something but I couldn't leave (another rule) After the quiz I was still having a little panic attack in my seat. I felt like everyone was staring at me. I don't ever want to deal with this again, too bad I will take another one tomorrow morning at 8 am!!!! At least I am prepared for this one. Let me just say this. Just when you think that you can get away with not doing an assignment, you're going to get busted!!! At this point I don't know what my grade is but I do know that tomorrow there is one LARGE lecture coming to first hour World Geography. Mr. Loe is a great teacher- don't get me wrong. But World Geography is possibly the worst hour of my morning, I have 1 friend in that class who is not much of a friend anymore. And then you add on top of all that, there is an incredibly annoying boy who sits behind me! Have you ever had to sit in front of those kids who rock your chair, or smack their gum in your ear, or hum? Ya, Those kids are my partners 99.999% of the time.

After this part of the day I was OK. I love my second and third hour. And fourth is really good on Mondays, because we go bowling! After this year there is OFFICIALLY no more PE classes and ABSOLUTELY NO WORLD GEOGRAPHY classes!!!!! WOOT WOO!!!! :)

Make A Wish Week!!

These next 2 weeks at school have been dedicated to help children who are sick with terminal diseases. Make a wish finds children who are ill with terminal diseases and find out what they would like to do before there time on this earth is over. Some wishes are very simple- wishes range from Kids who want a new car, a trip to Disney land, or even just more time with there family. This organization has granted so many wishes and being a part of it makes me smile just to know that I'm helping a child who doesn't know how much longer they will be here. Make a wish grants 173,810 wishes every 40 minutes. Student Council at the High School has planned SO many activities to help raise money for the child that was assigned to us this year. We have not found out who our Child is but I do know that it's going to be a good year! Today we had our kick off assembly and lunch dates were sold. People were auctioned off and the highest bidder gets to set a date up with that person and have lunch with them. One girl was "sold" for $300, and another boy was "sold" for $375. There is annoying music playing in the halls before and after school and in between passing periods until enough money is paid to shut them off. Tomorrow night there is a student vs. teacher basketball. There is a fashion show, A Mr. GR HS beauty pageant, A night at McDonald's where proceeds will go to Make a wish. Dodge ball tournament, Student and teacher torture, and class competitions. There is so much more going on. We are in a competition with Rock Springs to try and raise the most money. TODAY alone we raised $1375. I'm so happy to be a part of Student Council and to be able to be part of a school that is willing to help such a great organization! Our school is taking donations up to the 12th of February. Please come and participate in any of these activities- including the McDonald's Night. You're not only supporting a great organization but you're also Putting a smile of A child's face- lets all be part of granting this Child's wish and help them!
